Pagemaker 7

The first step towards attach Adobe PageMaker’s power understands what it does best. Although PageMaker has many powerful word processing and graphics features. Its strength lies in the assembly of text and art, not in their creation.

To get the most out of PageMaker, you’ll need to have the elements of your document already created in other programs. You’ll organize them on your hard drive so that they’re easy to find. Once the parts have been created and group together, you’ll finally launch your page layout program. Only then will you call on PageMaker’s difficult importing and formatting features to do the most rewarding part of creating a publication- the design.

Pagemaker is graphic application used to design pages. It is mostly use at press and screen printing job for designing newspaper, magazines, invitation card, ID card etc.



HOW TO START PAGEMAKER

- Click on Start button.

- Click on Program.

- Click on Adobe.

- Click on Pagemaker 7.0 and again click on Pagemaker 7.0.



PageMaker opens a publication window that contains an empty page centered on the pasteboard.



A. The toolbox includes tools for creating or editing objects. B. Margins appear as dotted or pink lines. C. Page icons show the master pages (L for left, and R for Right) and the regular pages in the publication. D. Rulers help you align objects on the page. E. The Colors and Styles palettes are used to add, delete, and edit colors and styles. F. The pasteboard stores items for later use. G. The Control palette provides commands for making precise changes to text and graphics.





The icons in the toolbox represent the tools you use in PageMaker. To select a tool, click it.

A. Use the pointer tool to select, move, and resize text objects and graphics. B. Use the rotating tool to select and rotate objects. C. Use the line tool to draw straight lines in any direction. D. Use the rectangle tool to draw squares and rectangles. E. Use the ellipse tool to draw circles and ellipses. F. Use the polygon tool to draw polygons. G. Use the hand tool to scroll the page, or to preview and test hyperlinks. H. Use the text tool to type, select, and edit text. Click or drag the text tool outside an existing text object on the page or pasteboard, and then type I. Use the cropping tool to trim imported graphics. J. Use the constrained line tool to draw vertical or horizontal lines.

K. Frame Tool : Use the frame tools to create placeholder shapes.



L. Zoom Tool : Use the zoom tool to magnify or reduce an area of the page.





To make triangle

- Double click Polygon tool. (Element Menu-Polygon setting)

- Set value zero on Star inset

- Set value 3 on No. of sides.



To make star

- Double click Polygon tool. (Element Menu-Polygon setting)

- Set value on Star inset (30)

- Set value on No. of sides. (15)

Zero Luck

The default position of the zero point is at the upper left corner of single pages and the upper touching corner of two page spreads.

For Zero Luck drag the pointer from the top left corner of the ruler at desire place.

To attach a text block to a frame:

1 Select a text block, hold down Shift, and then select an empty frame.

2 Choose Element > Frame > Attach Content. The text flows into the frame and the text block disappears.

Frame option

- Double click frame tool (appear frame option)

- set the inset.(Top, Buttom, Left, Right)/ horizontal alignment/verticle alignment

- Viewing Page

You can use the zoom tool to specify an area of the page to view, and increase or decrease its magnification at the same time.

View settings serve various purposes. Use Fit in Window when you need to check the overall composition of a page or a two-page spread; use Actual Size to see text and graphics as they will appear when printed; and choose View > Zoom To > 200% Size or 400% Size when precision is imperative. To find or view objects on the pasteboard, use Entire Pasteboard.

To move to the next greater or lesser preset view of a page, choose View > Zoom In or View > Zoom Out.

To magnify part of a page by dragging:

1 Select the zoom tool.

2 Drag to draw a marquee around the area you want to magnify



File Menu

New – (Ctrl + N)to open new Pagemaker publication

- Click on File Menu

- Click on New

- Select the page size, dimension, orientation, Option(double sideded/facing sided), No. of pages, page numbering style in number, top, buttom, inside, outside margin.

- Click on OK.



Open – (Ctrl +O) to open previously saved publication

- Click on File Menu

- Click on Open

- Choose the drive or folder in look in drop down and then select the desire file

- Click on Open.

Recent Publication to open recently used publication. It lists the last 8 Pagemaker publication that opened and saved.

- Click on File Menu

- Click on Recent Publication

- Choose the desire Publiation

Close (Ctrl+W) to close currently opened publication

- Click on File Menu

- Click on Close.

Save(Ctrl+S) to save/store the publication

- Click on File Menu

- Click on Save

- Choose the drive or folder in look in drop down and then select the desire file

- Click on Save.

Save As (Ctrl+Shift+S)to save the current publication, or to make duplicate and setting the template with copy option.Lets rename and save to different disk or folder. It also compresses file, making its size as small as possible.

- Click on File Menu

- Click on Save As

- Choose the drive or folder in look in drop down and then select the desire file

- Click on Save.

Revert it bring back to last saved effect.

- Click on File Menu

- Click on Revert.

Place – (Ctrl+D) Imports text, graphics and spreadsheet or database file into active publication. (To place Nepali font “convert quotes” take off the tick mark).

- Click on File Menu

- Click on Place

- Choose the drive or folder in look in drop down and then select the desire file.(to place image select the file with extension .jpg, .gif. etc.)

- Click on Open.

to place image The options available in the Place Document dialog box depend on whether you select a text, spreadsheet, database, or graphics file to place, and whether you have an object or frame selected in layout view when you choose File > Place. The dialog box displays files whose extensions (Windows) or formats (Mac OS) PageMaker recognizes as compatible.

Acquire: To import/insert image from scanner.

Export: For creating new files from within a publication to PDF, HTML, Graphic.

- Select the Graphic/Object

- Click on File Menu

- Click on Export

- Click on Graphic

- Choose the drive or folder. Type the file name and choose file type.

- Click on Save.

Link Manager: Lets view link option and Link info of files in active publication.

- Click on File Menu

- Click on Link Manager

- Click on Link info

- Click on OK.

Printer Style: To define printer style.

Print: To Print, printing option available depend on the printer that is using. (copies, page range, printer, orientation, print option.)

- Click on File Menu

- Click on Print

- Give Page range, no. of copies, orientation etc.

- Click on Print.

Document Setup: (ctrl +Shift +P) To change setting for a publication, such as page size, margin, no. of page, page numbering.

- Click on File Menu

- Click on Document Setup.

- Select the page size, dimension, orientation, Option(double sideded/facing sided), No. of pages, page numbering style in number, top, buttom, inside, outside margin.

- Click on OK.

Preference>General:( Ctrl+K) It is use to change the measurement of ruler (Horizontal and verticle ruler).

In Layout Problem tick On/Off in “show loose/tight lines.”

In More Preference dialog box

- Text- tick On/Off in “Turn Page when auto flowing”, “Text typographer’s quotes”

- Story editor- Change font name, font size.

In Map Fonts dialog box

- tick On/Off “Allow font matching”, “Show mapping result”. You can also change font name in “Default Font”







Edit Menu: Undo (Ctrl+Z)

Cut (Ctrl+X)

Copy(Ctrl+C)

Paste(Ctrl+v)

Clear(Del)

Select All(Ctrl+A)

Deselect All

Paste Special: It is use to paste in special case in special formal like Rich Text Format, Bitmap format, window metafile, microsoft word document object etc.

- copy object from other application like word art from Microsoft Word

- click on Edit Menu

- Click on paste special

- select enhanced metafile

- click on OK



Paste Multiple: Lets you duplicate, selected objects by specifying the numbers of copies needed and their numerical offset from original objects (like horizontal/verticle offset)

- Select the object

- Click on Edit Menu

- Click on Copy

- Again click on Edit Menu

- Click on Paste Multiple

- Give the no. of requires copies.

- Set the horizontal and verticle offset



Insert Objects: Lets you launch other program like Adobe Table 3.0, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel etc.

- Click on Edit Menu

- Click on Insert Objects

- Click on desired program

- Do as required and then close the program.



Edit Story: Opens the story editor to show the story currently selected or open a new story window if no text is selected.

- Click on Edit Menu

- Click on Edit Story



Utilities>Change> Locates and replace specified text, characters or formating (font, size so on) in the selected text, in an entire stroy. (Available only in story view).

- Click on Edit Menu

- Click on Edit Story

- Click on Utilities Menu

- Click on Change

- Type the text that is to be changed in Find what box

- Type the desired text in the change to box.



Utilities>Find/Find Next:To find the desired word. (Available only in story view).

- Click on Edit Menu

- Click on Edit Story

- Click on Utilities Menu

- Click on Find

- Type the text that is to be changed in Find what box



Utilities>Spelling> Checks and lets to correct spelling and basic gramatical error. (Available only in story view)

- Click on Edit Menu

- Click on Edit Story

- Click on Utilities Menu

- Click on Spelling

- Click on Start

- Change the spelling as required.



Edit Original:

To open original application of the selected placed file(graphic).

- Select the placed object/image or file

- Click on edit Menu

- Click on Edit Original (application Name>Edit)

- Make any change required

- close the application



Layout Menu

Go to Page: Turns to another page/master page in the active publication.

- Click on Layout Menu

- Click on Go to Page.

- Give the no. of pages in the Page Number Box.



Insert Page: Lets you add pages to a publication before or after the current page or insert new page between two facing pages and specifies the master applied to new page (Set left and right pages separately)

- Click on Layout Menu

- Click on Insert Page. (select BEFORE OR AFTER)

- Give the no. of pages in the Page Number Box.



Remove Page: Deletes the designated range of pages in a publication including the text and graphic on those pages.

- Click on Layout Menu

- Click on Remove Page

- Give the no. of pages in remove pages and through box

- Click on Ok



Sort Page: Lets you move pages from one position to another in the active publication by arranging thumbnail representators of your pages in the page order you want. pagemaker then reorder and renumbers pages based on the changes.

- Click on Layout Menu

- Click on Sort Page

- Drag the Page icon at the required position.



Column Guide :Specifies the no. of columns and the amount of space between the columns on the page.

- Click on Layout Menu

- Click on Column Guide

- Give the no. of column. You can also set the left and right pages separately.



Go Back: It will show the previous page that you have gone previously.



Go Forward: It will show the page the next you have gone.



Auto Flow: When this option is checked or tick marked, text flows into available columns until there is no more text to place. Pages are added to the end of publication if neccessary. Switch between manual and automatic flow by pressing Ctrl while text is flowing.



Type Menu

Font:It lets to select the font for a selected range of text

- Select the range of text.

- Click on Type Menu

- Click on Font

- Select the desire font



Size: It lets to specify text font size in points for a selected range of text.

- Select the range of text.

- Click on Type Menu

- Click on Size

- Select the desire font size. OR Use Other command to specify text font size from 4 to 650 points in 0.1 point increments.



Leading: It sets the space, measured in points between consecutive lines of types. - Select the range of text.

- Click on Type Menu

- Click on Leading

- Select the desire leading OR Use Other command to set leading values ranging from 0-1300 points.



Type Style: It lets to set the style for a selected range of text or the next text you type.

- Select the range of text.

- Click on Type Menu

- Click on type style

- Select the desire style like Normal, Bold, Underline, strikethru etc.

Expert Kerning: Allows you to apply size dependent letter spacing over a range of text instead of adjusting the spacing between pairs of letter.Tracking and kerning are both measured in relative units—that is, units that are based on the point size of the type. Tracking adjusts the relative space between characters so that it gets slightly tighter at large sizes and slightly looser at small sizes. Kerning is strictly proportional, since the em—the unit that kerning is based on—gets bigger or smaller at the same rate as the characters. The proportions between characters are always the same.

Expert Tracking: It is use to contract the space between the character.

- Select the range of text.

- Click on Type Menu

- Click on Expert Tracking

- Select the desire track like Normal, Tight, very tight, loose, very loose, no track.



Horizontal Scale: It lets you control the proportional width of characters for a selected range of text.

- Select the range of text.

- Click on Type Menu

- Click on Horizontal Scale

- Select the desire percentage



Character: (Ctrl + T) From this option you can change font, font size, leading, horizontal scale, position, case, track, color, tint, type style etc.

- Select the range of text.

- Click on Type Menu

- Click on Character

- Select the desire font, size, leading style etc.



Paragraph:(Ctrl+M) Paragraph attributes specify how your paragraph appear in the page, including alignment, position of indents and the amount of space before and after the paragraph.

- Select the range of text.

- Click on Type Menu

- Click on Paragraph

- Select the desire paragraph space like after/before, paragraph indent: left/first/right, alignment; center, justify, left, right, etc.



Indent/Tab: (Ctrl +I) It is use to set the left and right indents, the first line indent and set the tabs on the scale by dragging mouse pointer for the selected range of text.

- Select the range of text.

- Click on Type Menu

- Click on Indents/Tab

- Set the position of tab left or right or center or decimal. (in ruler), set the ruler

- Click on apply to see preview and click on OK.



Hyphenation: To set the hypen mark/line in the last position of breakword.

- select text paragraph

- select the type Menu

- select the hyphonation

- tick on On

- click on Okk.



Alignment: It allows to change the alignment of text. Choose any alignment to align left, align center, align right, align justify and force justify.

- Select the range of text.

- Click on Type Menu

- Click on Alignment (Choose any alignment)

Style: (Ctrl+B) It lets you to apply styles already defined in the style palette on the paragraph level.

- Select the range of text.

- Click on Type Menu

- Click on Style

- Choose desire style like Headline, Subhead1, Subhead2, body text etc.

Define Style:(CTrl+3) It is use to create and edit paragraph styles like body text, headline, subhead1, subhead2.

- Select the range of text.

- Click on Type Menu

- Click on Define Style (a dialog box appears)

- Click on New

- Give the style name and format character, paragraph etc as required.

- OR Select the style name and click on edit or click remove as required.



Element Menu

Fill: It lets you to specify a pattern when drawing a rectangle, ellipse or polygon.

- Select the object.

- Click on Element Menu.

- Click on Fill.

- Click on desired pattern.

Stroke: It specifies the line weight and style for the rectangle, ellipse or polygon tool. You can specify other line weights in one-tenth of a point increaments upto 800 point.

- Select the object.

- Click on Element Menu.

- Click on Stroke.

- Click on desired stroke style and weight.

Fill and Stroke: It sets the fill and stroke attributes for a selected objects including wheather the fill or stroke overprint or knocks out objects in the background.

- Select the object.

- Click on Element Menu.

- Click on Fill and Stroke.

- Click on desired fill pattern, color or choose stoke style and color. And Click on OK.

Frame: It is use to attach text and graphics to a frame, set attributes for frame and other objects.

- Select the object.

- Click on Element Menu.

- Click on Frame.

- Click on frame option and set available option like verticle/horizontal alignment and inset. And Click OK.

Arrange:

- Bring to Front:(Ctrl+shift+]) It moves the selected object to the front of any overlapping objects.

- Bring Forward: (Ctrl +]) It moves the selected object up one level of overlapping objects.

- Send to back : (Ctrl+shift+[ )It moves the selected object to the back of any overlapping objects.

- Send backward: (Ctrl +[ ) It moves the selected object up one level of any overlapping objects.

- Select the range of text..

- Click on Element Menu.

- Click on Arrange.

- Click on any one option.



Align Objects: (ctrl + Shift +E) It lets to align selected objects in relation to each other then evenly distribute them.

- Select two or more object.

- Click on Element Menu.

- Click on Align Object.

- Choose desire Align and distribute. And Click on OK.



Text Wrap: (Ctrl+Alt+E) It lets you determine how text flows when it encounters a graphic objects. Text interacts with a graphic objects in three ways; it can cover the graphic object, wrap around the sides of a rectangular shape or wrap around the side of an irregular shape.

- Select the object.

- Click on Element Menu.

- Click on Text Wrap.

- Click on desired wrap option and set stahdoff in inches. And Click on OK.

(Note: to wrap irregular shape make nodes on dotted line by clicking and drag it at required position).



Group: (Ctrl+G) To combine one or more selected objects into a group so that the objects are treated as a unit.

- Select the objects.

- Click on Element Menu.

- Click on Group.

Ungroup:(Ctrl+Shift+G) Separate grouped objects into constituent object. The objects retain the changes made while the objects were grouped.

- Select the grouped object.

- Click on Element Menu.

- Click on Ungroup.

Lock Position:(Ctrl+L) It do not let the object to move.

- Select the object.

- Click on Element Menu.

- Click on Lock Position.

Unlock:(Ctrl+Shift+L) Undoes lock position command, allow movement to selected locked objects.

- Select the locked object.

- Click on Element Menu.

- Click on Unlock.

Mask: It is use for masking. To make visible only the overlapped part of object/image by top object.

- Draw the object area over the required part of other object/image which is to be mask

- Select both object by pressing Shift key

- Click on Element Menu.

- Click on Mask



To mask Text

- Type the text

- Make copy of it

- Change its color as required

- Draw rectangle/oval as required over the text

- Select both text box and object pressing Shift key

- Click on Element Menu

- Click on Mask

- Now drag the first text box below the masked object.

- Now you may group.

-

Unmask: It is use to unmask. Or use to remove the object/image from the masked object.

- Select the masked object.

- Click on Element Menu.

- Click on Unmask..



Image>Photoshop effects:It is use to give the Photoshop effect in the graphic saved in .tiff extension. OR if the graphic is not in tiff, then use Graphic Command of Export Option of File Menu and change it to tiff extension.

- Select the graphic that is in tiff extension.

- Click on Element Menu.

- Click on Image and click on Photoshop effects.

- Choose desire Photoshop effect.

- Set the option.

- Click on OK.>OK



Polygon settings: It lets to change the shape of polygon that is selected. You can change the number of sides (up to 100) and the degree to which the sides are inset to form a star.

Unavailable if the selected objects is not a polygon drawn in PageMaker.

- Select the polygon object.

- Click on Element Menu.

- Click on Polygon setting.

- Set the number of side and star inset

- Click on Ok.



Rounded Corner: It lets to select the shape of corner of selected box. Unavailable if the selected objects is not a polygon drawn in PageMaker.

- Select the object.

- Click on Element Menu.

- Click on Rounded Corner.

- Click on desired Corner style and click on OK.



Link Info:Lets view Link info of files in active publication.

- Click on Element Menu

- Click on Link Info.

OR to change the file select the required one

- click on open.



Non Printing: To set non printing to the object/text box

- select the object to be non printing.

- click on Element menu

- Click on Non Printing



Utilities Menu

Plug-ins: Displays a list of installed Page Maker Plug-ins.

Balance Column: It is use to balance the different column.

- Select the required number of column (text area).

- Click on Utilities Menu.

- Select the Plug-in and Click on Balance Column.

- Choose desire alignment and add leftover lines and Click on OK.

Bullets and Numbering: Use to insert Bullets & Numbering in current publication.(You have to select the range of text for applying bullet & numbering.

- Select the required paragraph.

- Click on Utilities Menu.

- Select the Plug-in and Click on Bullet and Numbering.

- Select the desired bullet and Click on OK

OR

- To change bullet click on Edit Tab button

- select required symbol from required font

- Click on OK

OR

Click on Number Tab and select the desried number style and Click on OK.



Change Case: To change the publication text in selected case format. (lower case/ UPPER CASE/ Title Case/ Sentence case/ tOGGLE cASE)

- Select the required text range.

- Click on Utilities Menu.

- Select the Plug-in and Click on Change Case.

- Choose desire case and Click on OK.



Drop Cap: To formatting publication in selected cap format. It is use to drop the letter.

- Select the required text of paragraph.

- Click on Utilities Menu.

- Select the Plug-in and Click on Drop Cap..

- set the drop lines and Click on OK.



To create color library:

- Click on Utilities Menu

- Select Plug-ins and then click Create Color Library.

- Type the library name

- Click on Save,

- Select your library name and choose any one color then set the color mixture and click on OK.

Book: Compiles two or more Page Maker Publication into a book and creates a book list of the names of the publication. You can compile an index and table of contents from all the publication in the book and print all booked publications at once.



Word Counter: It is use to know about the number of words (paragraph/sentenceetc.) typed

- Select the required column (text area).

- Click on Utilities Menu.

- Select the Plug-in and Click on Word Counter.

- Click on close.



Index Entry: Opens a dialog box to define an index entry at the insertion point. Unavailable if no text or insertion point is selected.

- Select the text range.

- Click on Utilities Menu.

- Click on Index Entry.

- Click on Add and Click on Ok.

Show Index: Displays all index entris throughout the publication or book for review and editing. To view entries for just the current publication in a book, press Shift while you choose this command.

- Click on Utilities Menu.

- Click on Show Index.

- Click on Ok.

Create Index: It is use to create the index.

- Click on Utilities Menu.

- Click on Create Index.

- Click on Ok.

Create TOC: It is use to create the Table of Content.

- First give the style to the title of paragraph. (like headline, subhead1, subhead2 eetc)

- Click on Utilities Menu.

- Click on Create TOC.

- Give the title and Click on OK.

Define Colors: Allow to create and edit custom colors that you can apply to text or graphic objects. You can also import colors from industry standard and custom color libraries.

- Click on Utilities Menu.

- Click on Define Color.

- Click on New.

- Give the name and set the color

- Click on OK.



View Menu

Display Master Item: To Make master page objects all visible or all invisible on a page tick on/off.

- Click on View Menu.

- Click on/off on Display Master Item

Display Non Printing Item: To Make non printing objects all visible or all invisible on a page tick on/off.

- Click on View Menu.

- Click on/off on Display Non Printing Items.

Show/Hide Scroll: To show or hide the scroll bars.

- Click on View Menu.

- Click on show scroll bars to show and to hide click again.

Show/Hide Ruler: To show or hide the ruler.

- Click on View Menu.

- Click on show ruler to show OR to hide click again.

Show/Hide Guide: Show or hide the guide line.

- Click on View Menu.

- Click on show guide to show OR to hide click again.

Lock Guides: It helps not to move the guide line..

- Click on View Menu.

- Click once on lock guides to lock and to unlock take off the tick mark.

Bring guides to front/Sent guides to back: It is use to bring guide lines to front or to sent the back of the object

- Click on View Menu.

- Click once on bring guides to front OR click again to sent guides to back..



Clear Ruler guide: It is use to delete the guide line used.

- Click on View Menu

- Click on Clear Ruler Guide.



Window Menu

Tile: It will show all the open publication window side by side

- Click on Window Menu.

- Click on Tile.



Cascade: It will show all the open publication window one over another showing title bar.

- Click on Window Menu.

- Click on Cascade.

Show/Hide tool: Displays or hide the floating palette from which you select Page Maker’s drawing and editing tools.

- Click on Window Menu.

- Click once on Hide tool to hide the toolbox and then to show click on show tool.



Show/Hide Control Palette:Displays or hide the floating palette from which we can change character option (font name, size, leading, tracking, bold, reverse, alignment etc.) paragraph option.

- Click on Window Menu.

- Click once on Hide control palette to hide the control palette and then to show click on show control palette.



Show/Hide master page: Displays or hides master page palette for changing master page style.

- Click on Window Menu.

- Click once on Hide master page to hide the master page and then to show click on show master page.

- Then click on new icon and change the master page format.

To Insert Header OR Footer

- click on master page icon

- At required drag text box then type the text use for header OR footer

- Process same in both page

- Now the text appear in our regular page



To insert Page Number

- click on master page icon

- At required area drag text box then press

Ctrl + Alt + C

- Process same in both page

- Now the page number appear in our regular page





Show/Hide color palette: Displays or hide palettes which list the defined colors, imported ERS color, and default colors in the active publication. Click a color to apply it to the selected object/text. you can control -whether you color the stroke or fill for a selected object.

- Click on Window Menu.

- Click once on Hide color palette to hide the color palette and then to show click on show color palette.

- Then click on new icon of the palette and change or set the color, give the name and click on OK.



Show/Hide Style Palette: It is use to give or create the paragraph styles like body text, headline, subhead1, subhead2.

- Click on Window Menu.

- Click once on Hide style palette to hide the style palette and then to show click on show style palette.

- Click on New icon of the palette.

- Give the style name and format character, paragraph etc as required.

- OR Double click the style name and change the format as required.

Show/Hide Layer palette: Displays or hides layer palette for working with layer.

- Click on Window Menu.

- Click once on Hide layer to hide the layer and then to show click on show layer.

- Then click on new icon and work in new layer.



Plug-in Palette> Show Library: It is use to open or hide the library palette where we can store graphic/text.

- Click on Window Menu.

- Select on Plug-in Palette and click on Show Library.

- Select the required object/graphic/text area and click on add (+ sign) in the library palette.

- If needed drag the required one.

Micro Media FREEHAND 10

It is simply the drawing application using this program we can set text in different style, design, trademark, logo etc. This program is developed by Macro-Media Corporation. The extension of the FreeHand 10 is fh10.

We can also use Freehand to turn our artwork drawn into Flash animation. Freehand work area inclose the document window where command menu lies at the top of screen. Tools, Panels & Inspector for editing & adding are floated which can be move as required.



To Run/Start Freehand

- Click on Start

- Click on Program

Tools

To display the tools tips, position the pointer, over the tool until its name & shortcut display. We can set the option for each tool by double clicking the tools.

1. Pointer Tool (V)

It is use to move or resize the object.

- To change the text width Press Alt Key and drag the corner handle.

- To adjust word spacing Press Shift Key and drag the side handle.

- To copy Press Alt Key and drag the object or text box.



2. Sub Select Tool (A)

It is use to Modify the line drawn by Bezigon tool or to Select the nodes.



3. Page Tool (D)

It is use to resize or move the page.



4. Lasso Tool (L)

It is use to select the nodes by dragging over the nodes.



5. Eye Dropper

It is use to pick and fill the color from one object to another.



6. Text Tool (T)

It is use to type the text.

- By Dragging text area or just clicking we can type the text.



7. Pen Tool (P)

It is use to draw curve line by clicking points.

- To make close path join the first and end points.



8. Bezigon Tool (B)

It is use to make a path by clicking points and it an be modify by using Subselect tool.



9. Pencil (Y)

It is use to draw free form line.

- To draw double line double click the Pencil Tool

o Choose Variable Stroke

o Set the option

o Click on Ok

o Now draw by dragging.

- To draw ribbon like line double click the Pencil Tool

o Choose Caligraphic Pen

o Set the Option

o Click on Ok

o Now draw by dragging.



10. Line Tool (N)

It is use to draw the Straight line.



11. Rectangle Tool (R)

It is use to draw rectangle or square.

To draw square Press Shift key while dragging.

- Double Click the Rectangle Tool to change the radius or corner

- Set the Corner radius from 0-100 points

- Click on Ok. (oº radius create rectangle with 90º corner)

To Modify the rectangle, Ungroup the rectangle then drag the nodes as required.



12. Ellipse Tool (O)

It is use to draw Ellipse or Circle.

- To draw circle Press Shift Key and then drag.

- To Modify circle, Ungroup it and drag the nodes.



13. Polygon Tool (G)

It is use to draw Polygon or Star Shape

- Double Click Polygon Tool

- Choose Polygon Or Star

- Set the no. of sides

- Set Star points (if star is chosen)

- Click on Ok

Now drag to draw.



14. Spiral Tool

It is use to draw Spiral shape.

- Double click Spiral Tool

- Set the no. of rotation, direction

- Click on Ok

Now drag to draw.



15. Perspective Tool

It is use to place the object in Perspective view.

- Select the object

- Now pressing arrow key drag the object.





16. Freeform Tool (F)

It is use to modify the object or line by pressing or dragging over the object or path.



17. Knife Tool (K)

It is use to cut the object.

- After cutting object to make path close Click on Close Path of the Object Inspector.

- To make the path closed while cutting

o Double Click Knife Tool

o Click on Closed path (where amount of width can be set, freehand or st. line can be choose).



18. Scale Tool

It is use to resize the object.

- Just Drag over the object OR

o Double click the Scale Tool

o Set the Scale percent (and no. of copies)

o Press Enter OR click on Scale.



19. Rotation Tool

It is use to set the rotation effect.

- Just Drag over the Object OR

o Double click on Rotation Tool

o Set the Rotation angle (and no. of copies)

o Press Enter OR Click on Rotate.



20. Reflect Tool

It is use to reflect object in different angle.

o Double click the reflect tool

o Set the reflection axis (and no. of copies)

o Press Enter OR Click on Reflect.



21. Skew Tool

It is use to skew the object.

o Double click on Skew Tool

o Set the skew angle (and no. of copies)

o Press Enter OR Click on Skew.



22. Trace Tool

It will trace the part of art work/object or image within the selection marquee.

- Just drag area over the object

- Now with Pointer tool drag the part outward.



23. Hand Tool (H)

It is use to scroll the page.

(- Pressing or Holding the Spacebar we can also scroll the page.)



24. Zoom Tool (Z)

It is use to magnify or reduce the magnification of the page.

- To reduce the magnification Hold Alt Key and Click.

- By making selection marquee with Zoom Tool selected part is magnify.



File Menu

1. Import (Ctrl + R)

It is use to Import or Insert the graphic file created in other application and the text that is save in RTF extension.

- Click on File Menu

- Click on Import

- Choose the desire file

- Click on Open

- Drag at the required place.



2. Export (Ctrl + Shift + R)

It is use to Save the file in different format/extension. To open the saved file in another application like in BMP, JPEG, etc.

- Draw the object

- Click on File Menu

- Click on Export

- Give the name

- Choose the File type

- Click on Save.



3. Revert

It is use to bring back the file to the last saved effect.

- Click on File Menu

- Click on Revert

- Click on OK



4. Report

It gives the screen report about the active file.



5. Printer Setup

- Click on File Menu

- Click on Printer Setup

- Select the Printer

- Click on Setup

- Set the paper size, orientation and other option

- Click on Ok



6. Publish as HTML

To create the file as HTML

- Create the object or design anything

8. Paste Behind

It is use to Paste the object behind the selected object.

- Copy the object

- Select object behind of which the copied object is to be placed.

- Click on Edit Menu

9. Clear

It is use to delete the selected object.

- Select the object/s

- Click on Edit Menu

- Click on Clear



10. Paste Inside (Ctrl + Shift + V)

It is use to paste the object, image or text box inside the other object.

- Copy the image or object

- Select the another object in which the image is to be placed inside

- Click on Edit Menu

- Click on Paste Inside

- Double click the center point then drag the selected image inside the object.



11. Copy Attribute

It will copy the attribute like tab setting, it will not copy the text

- Select the text from which the attribute is to be copied

18. External Editor

It opens other application to change or to give effect in image without closing Freehand.

- Edit the graphic in opened application (save it)

- Close the application

- Click on Done of the Freehand window



19. Link

It shows the link information of the imported image & the selected image can also be replace by another.

- Click on Line (gives information about selected image)

- Select other image, if the selected image is to be change

It view all the pages fit inside the window.



4. Magnification

It is use to zoom the page in desire percentage (%) like; 25%, 50% (Ctrl + 5), 100% (Ctrl+1), 200%(Ctrl+2) etc.



5. Custom

New: It is use to create new magnification percentage.

- View the page in desire % like in 125%

- Click on View Menu

- Click on Custom

- Click on New

- Give the name

- Click on Ok.



6. Preview (Ctrl + K)

It is use to display the page in normal view.



7. Fast Mode (Ctrl + Shift + K)

It displays blend object with reduce step, and with dim text.



8. Keyline

It displays only a black hair line stroke no fill for object and ‘cross’ boxes for the image.



9. Flash Anti-alias

It displays object & text smooth on screen as it will appear in MicroMedia Flash (in SWF format).



10. Hide Selection

It is use to hide the selected object.

- Select the required objects.

- Click on View Menu

- Click on Hide Selection



11. Show All

It will display all the Hidden objects.

- Click on View Menu

12. Toolbar (Ctrl + Alt + T)

It is use to show or hide all the toolbar used in current window.

To show or hide the text ruler. Using text ruler we can set or remove tabs button.

- To add tab: Drag the required tab icon from the text ruler at the required place of the scale.

- To remove tab : Drag the tab icon off of the ruler.



16. Grid (Ctrl + alt + G)

XTRA OPERATION TOOL

1. Fractelize tool

It creates square like pattern.

- Select the object

- Then just click on fractelize tool until required shape appears.



2. Crop Tool

It uses the topmost object as a cutter to trim the selected object.

- Select two or more object that are overlapped

- Place the cutter object at the top

- Click on Crop tool

3. Trap Tool

To trap or to take out the outline of the selected object.

- Select the object

- Click the trap tool

- Set the trap width

- Click on ok.



4. Transparency Tool

It creates new object with intermediate color between two objects giving appearance of transparency.

- Select two overlapped object

- Click on Transparency tool

- Set the amount

- Click on ok



5. Inset Path

To add inset path (outline stroke) inside or outside the selected object by specified amount.

- Select the object

- Click on Inset Path

- Set the step and inset (-ve inset gives outside path)

- Click on OK



6. Expand Stroke Tool

It expands or increase the size of stroke but the stroke part/area changes to fill area of the object.

- Select the object

- Click on Expand Stroke

- Set the amount

- Click on Ok



7. Union Tool

It combines two or more selected path into single object.

- Select two or more object

- Click on Union Tool



8. Divide

It cuts selected path into section define by the area of overlap object.

- Select two or more overlap objects

- Click on Divide tool

- Now drag the cut part



9. Punch tool

It removes part/area of path/object below the topmost object by topmost object.



10. Intersect tool

It creates a new path of the area common to all the selected objects.

- Select two or more overlap objects

- Click on Intersect tool



11. Blend Tool (Ctrl + Shift + B)

It creates a transition between two (or more) close path in incremental steps, with blending color.

- Select two object

- Click on Blend tool

To change the step of blend object

12. Simp;ify

It make the path likely smooth as it erase unnecessary nodes of the path.

- Select the path

- Click on Simplify tool

13. Remove Overlap

It will delete the overlap line while drawing the path with Calligraphic Pen Tool

- Draw the crossing object or path with Calligraphic tool

- Click on Remove Overlap



14. Reverse Direction

To change the direction of the path

- Select the path (eg. with arrow head)

- Click on Reverse Direction tool



15. Correct direction

To convert the direction of the path in correct way.



16. Release To Layer

It divides the blend object into different layer. ( which layers are helpful/use to animate)

- Select the blend object

- Click on Release to Layer

- Set OR Choose option like sequence, Drop, Build, Trial

17. Emboss

It creates 3D dimensional effect in which the edge of object are raised or lower to look like emboss.

- Select the object

18. Add Points

To add nodes OR points in the path.

- Select the object

- Click on Add Points until required no. of nodes appear.

1. Arc Tool

To make the shape of arc in open, flip or concave arc

- Double click Arc tool

- Choose the Arc style

- Click on OK then drag to draw



2. Fish Eye Lens

It creates a concave or convex effect.

- Select the object

- Double click Fish Eye Lens tool

- Set the amount

- Click on Ok then drag over the object.



3. 3D Rotation

To rotate object in 3D style.

- Select the object

- Then drag over the object at required angle.



4. Smudge

It soften edge of the object giving drop shadow effect by blending the color.

- Select the object

- Double click smudge tool

- Set fill & stroke color

- Click on Ok

- Then drag at required direction (two times)



5. Shadow

It gives the shadow effect in object. There are 3 drop shadow type ; Hard, Soft & Zoom.

- Select the object

- Double click Shadow tool

- Choose shadow type, scale, offset, etc

- Click on Apply to preview Then click on Ok

- OR just drag over the object.



6. Roughen

To add nodes making concave/convex curve to path stroke.

- Select the object

- Double click Roughen tool

- Set the amount

- Click on Ok then drag over the object.



7. Mirror

To copy the object in Vertical/Horizontal axis. Using Multiple option the object can be rotate OR reflect in no. of amount.

- Select the object

- Double click on Mirror Tool

- Choose the option

- Set the no. of rotation if Multiple option is chosen

- Click on Ok

- Then drag or click at imaginary center point.



8. Graphic Hose

It spray the different shape that is in the Hose box list.

- Double click on Graphic Hose tool

- Choose the Hose name from the list

- Then click on required place

To define/add new Hose shape

- Draw the object

- Copy it

- Now in the Hose dialog box, click on new from drop down list

- Give the name then click on Save

- Now click on Paste in (the object is added).



9. Bend Tool

It creates a bloated or spiked effect

- Select the object

- Double click the bend tool

- Set the amount

- Then drag again and again over the object.



INSPECTOR (WINDOW MENU)

1. Fill Inspector (Ctrl + alt + F)

- Click on Window Menu

- Click on Inspector

- Click on Fill



i) Basic Color

Use to fill solid color



ii) Gradient

It applies a multi-color fill with a smooth transition from one color to another.

In gradient fill we can choose linear, radial, square where gradient angle can also be set.



iii) Lens

With lens fill six (6) different effect like; Transparency, Magnify, Invert, Lighten, Darken & Monochrome can be apply.

To see Lens fill effect one (filling object) should place over another object.



iv) Pattern

To fill different dotted editable pattern.

To edit pattern or to make new pattern

o Click on clear of pattern dialog box of Fill Inspector

o Now click on required small square box to create pattern



v) Tile

To apply repeating object/text

- Type any text OR draw object

- Copy it

- Select other object where to fill

- Choose tile option from fill inspector

- Click on Paste in

- Set offset and angle



2. Stroke Inspector

i. Basic

It apply the solid color & also set arrowhead, dash line, stroke width, cap & join to the stroke.



ii. Brush

To apply brush style stroke which can be define/create using Create Brush Option of Modify Menu.



iii. Pattern

It applies editable pattern which is same as fill pattern. But to view the pattern in the stroke, the stroke should be little thicker. Different pattern style can be chosen by dragging scroll of pattern Stroke Inspector.



3. Object Inspector

- From this Inspector, Object height, width, x & y offset and corner radius of rectangle can be set.

- While selecting blend object, number of blend step can be change.

- While using Attach to Path option, the path can be shown OR not by giving tick mark in the box & we can also set orientation.

- While drawing not closed path, the path can be closed by giving tick mark in “close path box”.



[Note : (IN Freehnad MX Fill Inspector, Stroke Inspector and Object Inspector is in same Object palette as ADD STROKE, ADD FILL, ADD EFFECT, where in ADD EFFECT different option can be set/choose for different purpose; like ……………. )



4. Document Inspector

From this Inspector, we can format the document/page size, page orientation.

- Page can be added using option triangle ( ) of this Inspector.

- Click on Add Page of the Option

- Give the required number of page, set paper size, orientation

- Click on Ok



5. Text Inspector (IN Freehnad MX it is not available).

i. Character (abc)

It is use to format the text style, change font & font size, leading, character spacing, superscript, subscript effect and can set alignment of text.

- From Effect button; highlight, inline, shadow, strikethrough, underline, zoom effect/option can be set to the text. To modify setting double click the option.



ii. Paragraph

From this option; left, right indent, hanging indent, before & after paragraph spacing can be set.



iii. Column

From this option; number of row OR number of column, column spacing and way of flow of text can be set.





MODIFY MENU

1. Transform

i. Scale (Shift + F10) Same as the Scale Tool.

ii. Rotate (Ctrl + F2) Same work as Rotate Tool.

iii. Reflect Same work as Reflect Tool.

iv. Skew Same work as Skew Tool.

v. Move To set movement of the object.



2. Envelop

i. Create

It create a hidden wrapper that distort object OR text by dragging position of envelop nodes OR clicking & dragging.



ii. Save As Preset

To save the envelop created.

- Create Envelop using Create Option of Envelop

- Click on Save as Preset

- Give the name

- Click on Ok



iii. Delete Preset

To delete the selected envelop (that is saved).



iv. Release

It takeout only the envelop wrapper line and place the object in same position after envelop used.



v. Remove

It throwout/takeout the wrapper and bring the object/text box to the original position.



3. Arrange

To move object above OR down that are overlapped.

i. Bring To Front (Ctrl + Shift + UP arrow key)

ii. Move Forward (Ctrl + Up arrow key).

iii. Send Backward (Ctrl + Down arrow key).

iv. Send to Back (Ctrl + Shift + Down arrow key)

- Select the object

13. Attach To Path Ctrl + Shift + Y

To attach the text over the path OR around the perimeter of the object/path.

- Select the Path and text

- Click on Text Menu

- Click on Attach to Path

OR if only the path is selected then type the text over the perimeter of the object.

- To show OR not to show path, set in Object Inspector.

- To edit text without removing from the path

o Double click the attach path text then edit it.

- Text flows onto path base on the direction of the path.



14. Detach From Path

To remove OR separate the text from path used as Flow Inside Path OR Attach to Path.

- Select the Attach OR Flow Inside Path

- Click on Text Menu

- Click on Detach From Path.



15. Remove Transform

To remove transform OR to bring back to original position after transform applied like skew, rotate to the text box.

- Select the text box with Skew OR Rotated (Used transform)

- Click on Text Menu

- Click on Remove Transform.



16. Convert To Path Ctrl + Shift + P

It changes the text to the single path that are grouped in single object. To edit individual character Ungroup & if needed split it & then drag the nodes as required.

It gives little darken color effect.

- Select on Open

- Now color appears in swatch panel.



v. Name All Color

It add all the color used in the objects of current file to the swatch panel.



vi. Sort Color

It arrange the color name in alphabetic order.



WINDOW MENU

1. ToolBar

i. Main Toolbar

Main toolbar contains basic command like; New, Open, Save, Print, Lock, Unlock, Import, Find Graphic, Align, Color Mixer, Swatch, Layer panel, Object Panel, Library Panel.



ii. Text Toolbar

It contains the command that format the text like; Changing Font, Font size, Alignment, Flow text inside path, Attach text to path, Detach text from path, Convert to path, Spelling.



iii. Controller Toolbar (IN Freehnad MX it is in Movie option of Window Menu)

The command of this toolbar is use while using Test Movie. It contains command like; Play, Stop, Rewind, Forward, Test Movie, Export Movie, Movie setting.



iv. Status Toolbar

It appears at the bottom of the Freehand Window. It contains; Page selection button, Magnification list & view style list. It displays message about the task in progress.



v. Info

It shows offset of mouse movement, number of object selected, number of object type.

2.Panel

i. Style Shift + F11

It is use to import OR insert the different style that can be use in the object.

- Click on small triangle option of Style Panel

- Click on Import

- Select RGB/CMYK style

- Click on Open

- Select required style & click on import

- Now select the object & click on imported style



To create New Style

- Set different Fill style in the object

- Click on New from triangle option of Style Panel

- Give the name

- Click on Ok



Now to Export it

- Click on Export from the option triangle

- Select the Style from option

- Click on Export

- At desire folder give the name & save it.



ii. Layer F2

To show OR hide the object layer OR working with layer to animate the objects.

- Click on Window Menu

- Click on Panel

- Click on Layer



To add new layer

- Click on New from Option triangle

To Duplicate OR to Remove Layer

- Select the layer name

- Click on Duplicate OR Remove from the option



- To select different Layer hold down Ctrl key & click on different required layer.

To create hyperlink in Freehand Window

- Draw different object in different page in different layer

- Select one object

- Now set the link page from Link list

- Set action, Parameter & Event

iv. Color Mixer

To create New color by dragging the slide OR different color from different color mode.

To add the color to Swatch Panel

- Click on Add to swatch icon after setting color.

- Give the name & click on OK



v. Tint

To set OR pick the color by percentage wise.

To add the color to Swatch Panel

- Click on Add to swatch icon after choosing color.

- Give the name & click on OK

To fill the color in the object by dragging color from the panel

Eraser Tool :

To delete the unnecessary part of the path/object by dragging over it.

- Select the object

Extrude Tool:

To give the 3D effect shadow to the object, where the center point for viewing/setting the shadow of the object can be set OR move at the required direction.

- Select the object

- Drag over the object with Extrude tool

- Now change the shadow/extrude direction

- OR change the shadow width.



Connector Tool:

To connect one object with another with the line. After connecting, when the connector line is moved then the respective connected object moves with the connector line. OR when the object is move then the connector line adjust automatically. (Simply it is use for drawing Flow Chart).

- Draw two or more object

- Drag with connector tool from one object to another



Edit Menu> Paste Content

It is same as the option ‘Paste Inside’ in Freehand 10

- Place the image over the object

- Copy OR cut the image

- Select the object where the image is to place inside

- Click on Edit Menu

- Click on Paste Content.

FILE MENU

File Menu> Place : It is use to insert/place the picture.

- Click on File Menu > Click on Place

> Select the pict. file > Click on Place.



File Menu> Export : Use to export the file in the .jpg, .tif, .bmp etc. extension file.

- Draw the object > Click on File Menu

> Click on Export

> Give the name and choose extension

> Click on Save



EDIT MENU

Edit Menu >Paste in front - use to paste in front of selected object. (Ctrl + F)

- Cut or Copy the object

- Select the object front of which it is to be paste.

- Click on Edit Menu> Click on Paste in front.



Edit Menu > Paste in back - use to paste behind the selected object. (Ctrl +B)

- Cut or Copy the object

- Select the object back of which it is to be paste.

- Click on Edit Menu> Click on Paste in back.



OBJECT MENU

Object Menu > Path > Join : It is use to join the unclosed path. (drawn by pen, pencil, brush tool). (Ctrl+J)

- Draw the unclosed path

- Select the path with selection tool.

- Click on Object Menu> Click on Path > Click on Join.



Object Menu > Path > Average: The Average command lets you move two or more anchor points (on the same path or on different paths) to a position that is the average of their current locations.( Choose to average along both axes, or the horizontal (x) axis only, or the vertical (y) axis only, and click OK) (Ctrl+Alt+J)

- Select the object.

- Click on Object menu> Click on Path > Click on Average

- Click Verticle, Horizontal or both > Click on OK.



Object Menu > Path > Outline Stroke: The Outline Stroke command traces the outline of all stroked paths

within the selected artwork and substitutes a filled object with the same width as the original stroked path.

- Select the Object.

- Click on Object menu > Click on Path > Click on Outline stroke.

- Drag the path or stroke.



Object Menu > Path > Offset Path: To make replications of a path(likely duplicate) at a regular distance from the original path. You can create an offset path from a closed path or an open path;

- Select the Object.

- Click on Object menu > Click on Path > Click on Offset Path.

- Set the amt. of offset and select join > Click on OK.



Object Menu> Path > Simplify : The Path Simplify command removes extra anchor points from a path without changing the shape of the path.

- Select the Object.

- Click on Object menu > Click on Path > Click on Simplify.

- Set the option > Click on Ok.



Object Menu> Path > Add anchor point: to add the anchor points.

- Select the Object.

- Click on Object menu > Click on Path > Click on Add anchor point.

- Change the nodes with Direct Selection Tool



Object Menu> Path > Divide object below : Divide Objects Below command lets you use a selected object as a cookie cutter to cut through other/below objects.

- Make the cutting shape over the object.

- Click on Object menu > Click on Path > Click on Divide object below.

- Drag the object.



Object Menu > Blend > Blend Option: It is use to change the blend step, distance.

Object Menu> Blend > Make Blend (Ctrl+ Alt+ B)



Object Menu > Envelope Distort > Make with warp: It is use to change artwork, including paths, text, meshes, blends, and raster images shape in differnt style like arc, fish, flag, wave, rise, twist etc. (Ct+ Alt+W)

- Select the Object. > - Click on Object menu

> Click on Envelope Distort> Click on Make with warp >- Set the option > Click on OK.



Object Menu > Clipping Mask> Make: Clipping masks crop part of the artwork so that only a portion of the artwork appears through the shape or shapes you create. (Ctrl+7)

- Select two object one over another.

- Click on Object Menu > Click on Clipping Mask > Click on Make.

- (With direct selection clipping mask can be move).



Object Menu> Compund Path> Make: A compound path contains two or more paths that are painted so that holes appear where paths overlap. Compound paths act as grouped objects; to modify part of a compound path, use the direct-selection tool. (Ctrl+8)

- Select two object one over another.

- Click on Object Menu > Click on Compound Path> Click on Make.



Objet Menu> Crop Marks > Make: It place the crop mark in the using artwork object.



Object Menu > Graph> It is use to change the graph style and the data.



Type Menu

Type Menu > Wrap > Make: It is use to wrap the text.

Release: It is use to release or separte the text and object

- Type the text

- Draw the object

- Select both text and object

- Click on Type Menu>Warp> Make



Type Menu > Create Outline : lets you turn type into a set of compound paths that you can edit and manipulate as you would any other graphic object. (Ctrl +Shift + O)

- Select the text box.

Type Menu > Type Orientation : To change text orientation like horizontal or vertical.

Effect Menu

Effect Menu> Convert to Shape : It lets to change the selected shape into rectangle, rounded rectangle and ellipse.

- Select the object

- Click on Effect Menu

- Click on Convert to Shape

- Select Rectangle, rounded rectangle or ellipse

- Set the option > Click on Ok.



Effect Menu> Distort and transform: It is use to distort or change the shape of the artwork.

- Select the object

- Click on Effect Menu

- Click on Distort and transform

- Select free distort, pucker & bloat, roughen, transform, twist, zigzag

- Set the option > Click on Ok.



Effect Menu> Stylize> Arrow head: It is use to give the arrowheads in the line drawn.

- Select the object

- Click on Effect Menu

- Click on Stylize

- Click on Arrow head

- Select the arrow style > Click on Ok.



Effect Menu> Stylize> Drop Shadow: It is use to give the shadow effect in the artwork drawn.

- Select the object

- Click on Effect Menu

- Click on Stylize

- Click on Drop Shadow

- Select the option> Click on Ok.



Effect Menu> Stylize> Feather: It softens the edges of an object by fading them to transparent over the distance specify

- Select the object

- Click on Effect Menu

- Click on Stylize

- Click on Feather

- Set the feather radius > Click on Ok.



Effect Menu> Stylize> Inner Glow/Outer Glow: It is use to give the glowing effect inside or outside edge of the selection.

- Select the object

- Click on Effect Menu

- Click on Stylize

- Click on Inner Glow/Outer Glow

- Set the option > Click on Ok.



Effect Menu> Stylize> rounded corner: It is use to give the rounded shape, give radius in the artwork/object drawn.

- Select the object

- Click on Effect Menu

- Click on Stylize

- Click on Rounded corner

- Set the radius > Click on Ok.



Effect Menu> Stylize> warp: It is use to change artwork, including paths, text, meshes, blends, and raster images shape in differnt style like arc, fish, flag, wave, rise, twist etc. (same as wrap option of Type Menu)



WINDOW MENU

Align Palette: It is use to align the selected two or more objects like horizontal align left, right, center, verticle align left, right and center. (Shift + F7)



Appearance Palette: Appearance palette displays the attributes associated with the artwork. Fills and strokes are listed in stacking order (front to back); effects are listed in the order in which they are applied to the artwork. (Shift + F6)



Brush Palette: (F5)

To create new calligraphic brush

- Click the New Brush button in the Brushes palette, or choose New Brush from the palette menu.

- Select New Calligraphic Brush and click OK.

- In the Name text box, enter a name for the brush (up to 30 characters).

- Specify values for the angle, roundness, and diameter of the brush

- Click on Ok.



Info Palette: Depending on the tool using, the Info palette shows the measure size, distance, and displays the x and y coordinates of the pointer's position in the artwork. (F8)



Navigator Palette : The Navigator palette lets you quickly change the view of your artwork using a thumbnail display.



Link Palette: To know the link information of the placed file or to change the placed/link file. (Double click the placed file layer of link palette to get information of the file). & (To change or replace the file click on replace link icon of the palette.)



Color Palette: The Color palette is use to apply color to an object's fill and stroke, and also to edit and mix colors. (F6)



Swatche Palette: To apply different solid color, gradient or pattern color in the selected object/artwork.



Layer Palette: It is use to put different artwork in different layer. It also lets to display or hide or to lock/unlock the contents of differnt layer. (F7)



Type>Character Palette: To change the font, size, leading, horizontal scale, vertical scale, tracking, super/subscript, regular, bold, italic style. (Ctrl + T)



Type> Paragraph Palette: To change text alignment, indents. (Ctrl + M)



Type> Tab Ruler: It is use for tab setting. (Ctrl +Shift +T)



Style Palette: The Styles palette lets you create, name, save, and apply sets of appearance attributes. (Sh+F5)

- Give effect like feather, shadow etc and set fill and stroke color then drag the thumbnails from the appearance palette to the New Style Icon OR free space of the style palette.



Transform Palette: The Transform palette displays information about the location, size, and orientation of one or more selected objects. And can also be changed by typing/setting amount. (Shift + F8)



Symbol Palette: the Symbols palette use to store, manage, and place symbols. (Shift + 11)

- To create new symbol draw the artwork and drag it to the New Symbol Icon OR on the free space of the Style Palette.









Gradient Palette: (F9)

- Select the object

- Set the both white and black gradient slider to the RGB or CMYK mode (change mode from color palette.)

- Choose the color from color palette

- Click to add new gradient slider in gradient palette, choose color

- Set the angle, set the type like linear, radial



Transparency Palette: (Shift + F10)

To make the selected object transparencey set the opacity.



Stroke Palette: (F10)

To change stroke width, set the weight.
